Funded by the businesses that supply packaging and printed paper to Manitobans, we help cover the costs of collecting and processing these materials and provide recycling information and resources to communities and residents.r. You may know us as Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba or Simply Recycle.

Why the name changed

A name people can find and use.

Most Manitobans know the blue bin, but not the organization that funds it. 'Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba' doesn't tell you we're the recycling program, and it's hard to find when you're searching for one. Recycle Manitoba is the name that makes sense, to residents, teachers, and community staff we support. Now it's official.

  • Easier to find

    When people need recycling help, they search for 'recycle Manitoba.' The program now shows up where people are looking.

  • Easier to say

    The old name rarely survived a conversation. This one fits on a recycling guide, a classroom poster, and a phone call.

  • One name

    The name belongs on a fridge magnet and a recycling guide, not only on a regulatory filing.

What hasn't changed

A new name, not a new organization.

The organization remains legally Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba, operating as Recycle Manitoba. Nothing about our legal status, mandate, program plan, or obligations has changed.

    Recycling rules and services haven't changed for residents.

  • Existing agreements

    All producer and community agreements remain as they are, unchanged.

  • Obligations

    Partner obligations and deadlines are all the same.

  • Reporting

    Reporting requirements and deadlines are unaffected.

The bigger picture

Let's talk extended producer responsiblity (EPR)

Full EPR is a model where producers take on full financial and operational responsibility for household recycling. The timing and details of any transition remain subject to provincial review.

Our new name is separate from that process. It gives us a clearer public-facing identity and a more recognizable way to connect Manitobans with recycling information and resources.
